INTRODUCTION and HISTORY

History: The HORIZON Association of Disabled People is a voluntary association.
It was constituted on Dec. 22nd, 1994 and recognized for public use by Ministerial Decree No. 550-2-97 dated July 2nd, 1997.
It was set up through the initiative of people very close to the disabled from various social classes, in order to meet the more urgent needs of disabled people in the provinces of Ouarzazate and Zagora (42,000 sq. km). Because of the lack of local facilities, the disabled were obliged to travel long distances to other towns such as Agadir (400 km), Casablanca (440 km) or Rabat (530 km).

Rehabilitation: This service provides physiotherapy of disabled people by different methods (kinesitherapy, electrotherapeutics, verticalization, etc.).

Orthopaedics: This structure allows patients to obtain equipment suitable for their particular handicap.
Three orthoprosthetists together with an expert in orthopedic shoes make prostheses of lower limbs, ortheses and shoes.

Psychomobility: This service aims at helping disabled children suffering from encephalopathy, Down’s syndrome, etc. to acquire more autonomy and a psychophysical wellbeing by means of suitably adapted techniques.
